2nd Joint CLIPC/IS-ENES2 Workshop on Metadata/DRS for climateclimate
Climate in a narrow sense is usually defined as the average weather, or more rigorously, as the statistical description in terms of the mean and variability of relevant quantities over a period of time ranging from months to thousands or millions of years. The classical period for averaging these variables is 30 years, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization. The relevant quantities are most often surface variables such as temperature, precipitation and wind. Climate in a wider sense is the state, including a statistical description, of the climate system.

Following the success 1st CLIPC/IS-ENES2 Workshop on Common CVs for climate indices, the FP7 projects CLIPC and IS-ENES2 organize a 2nd Joint Workshop on Metadata/DRS for climate indices.

The workshop will take place in Brussels, at Hôtel Marivaux, on October 17th, 2016 10h-17h.

The agenda is as followed:

  • Hands-on work on pending issues on Metadata Standards and DRS for climate indices.
  • Report on CLIPC portal experience.
  • Report on use beyond CLIPC.
  • Ways forward and continued collaboration.

There will be the possibility again to have remote participants using Skype or other web conferencing software.

It is still possible to register to the workshop by contacting Christian Pagé christian.page@cerfacs.fr
